It's not all about swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving and relaxing at BBR. There are a lot of other possibilities to keep yourself busy: Our boat will take you to our paradise beach on nearby uninhabited Bentenan Island where you can fullfill your Robinson Crusoe fantasies. We will supply you with everything you need (camping equipment, food, water, etc.), then you are on your own, as long as you wish...  Guests at Bentenan Island, Kuskus Bear Explore the jungle around BBR which is home for many rare and endemic species: the world's smallest primate (tarsius spectrum), Anoa (dwarf buffalo), Babi Rusa (a wild boar with tusks growing through the roof of its mouth), black tailless macaques, kuskus, maleo bird, and others. Several high-quality woods can be found in the area, such as ebony, ironwood, linggua, gopasa, nantu, meranti, etc. Rattan and colorful orchids as well as various wild palms and other plant species grow in abundance in the forests throughout the region. The mangroves just around the corner from BBR are a paradise for bird watchers. We'll take you there with a "man-powered boat" in the early morning or late afternoon which are the best times to observe many rare species. We'll take you on a full day tour through the beautiful Minahasa highland area: active volcanoes, hotsprings, beautiful lakes, traditional handicraft and an ever friendly, cheerful population are just a few of the highlights of such a tour.  Mt. Lokon Volcano, Tomohon There are three active volcanoes in the area: Mt. Mahawu, Mt. Lokon and Mt. Soputan. Mahawu is an easy walk from Rurukan while Lokon is a bit steeper. A rafting trip with a professional operator in the Minahasa area can be arranged.  Children at Bentenan village Come and meet the friendly people in the villages around Bentenan. See how they live and make a living. A few words from you in Bahasa Indonesia, the national Indonesian language, will make them cheer up even more... The wide and beatiful beach right in front of BBR is perfect for an occasional barbecue. If they are in the right mood our staff will show and teach you some of their traditional dances or sing a few songs for you.
